SPIN: The Senior Planners Industry Network

Picture

By Planners, For Planners.TM

What do you need to move your career forward?  To be happy in your job?
To fight burnout and feel inspired?  To re-engage with your industry?

What is SPIN?

We are an independent network not affiliated with any other industry associations. In fact, we're turning the typical association model on its head.  SPIN is different: we like to think of ourselves as an un-association because we don't do things the way you might expect.

What Does SPIN Do?
  • Challenges the way you think
  • Helps you fight burnout
  • Increases your productivity
  • Provides peer-to-peer resources
  • Helps you break out of the senior-planner rut
  • Provides opportunities to meet direct peers
  • Enables you to solve your challenges with peers
  • Helps you re-engage and re-energize
  • Provides an environment where the focus is strictly on senior-level planners for a change!

Everything we do is BY senior-level planners, FOR senior-level planners.  We are not all things to all people; we're just for senior-level planners. Did we mention basic membership is free? Elite membership is optional and only for members who see the value in what we're offering. How's that for different?   We value your membership, and your membership has value.

As a member of SPIN, you have a voice in every major decision.  Our "Board" is 2,500 members, not a dozen or so trying to guess what you want and need.  We have no 100-year-old mission statement that we dust off every now and then.  We are constantly evolving and based on YOUR needs, because we are senior-level planners, too.

Each quarter in more than a dozen North American cities, SPIN leads education/networking gatherings (we call them SPIN Think Tanks) for fellow members, with CEU-accredited discussions on topics that matter to you, because the topics come from you and your peers.

Membership is strictly for planners,
and you must have 10+ years' experience to join.

All members are pre-screened, qualified senior-level planners with at least 10 years of full-time planning experience (the average is closer to 20 years).   To join, click the SPIN Members Forum tab above - basic membership is free, we're only for planners, and full of resources built by and for our members.

Why Did We Create This Network?

A message from founder Shawna Suckow, CMP

I believe senior-level planners tend to put our own networking and professional development last sometimes, because we can get stretched too thin.  There's also not a lot of education out there geared just for us.  We need our own private forum to connect, learn, vent (sometimes), ask questions, and share ideas amongst ourselves.  This group enables us to reconnect with colleagues and create new relationships.  At our quarterly Think Tanks, we get to plug back in, exchange brilliant ideas and reinvigorate.  At our annual SPINCon North American Conference, we reconnect, meet new peers and explore new concepts.
